The Decision of the Board of the International Union of Young Farmers of 01 December 2020 on the Youth2030 Strategy

The Board of the International Union of Young Farmers,

Taking into account that, launched in 2018, Youth 2030, the United Nations’ system-wide Youth Strategy acts as an umbrella framework that guides the UN’s efforts to strengthen its work with and for young people across the three pillars – peace and security, human rights and sustainable development – in all contexts,

Recalling the World Programme of Action for Youth to the Year 2000 and Beyond (WPAY), adopted by the UN General Assembly resolution A/RES/50/81,

Also recalling UN General Assembly resolution A/RES/54/120 (Policies and programmes involving youth),

Noting that, in p. 3 of the UN General Assembly resolution A/RES/54/120, all States, all United Nations bodies, the specialized agencies, the regional commissions and the intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations concerned, in particular youth organizations, were invited to make every possible effort towards the implementation of the Programme of Action and to consider, within its framework, the appropriate ways and means to follow up the Lisbon Declaration, in accordance with their experience, situation and priorities,

Noting especially that, according to p. 15 of the UN General Assembly resolution A/RES/54/120, all States, all United Nations bodies, the specialized agencies, the regional commissions, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations to exchange knowledge and expertise on youth related issues, upon setting up the ways and means to do so,

Welcoming the UN IANYD initiatives in: Employment, Environment, Youth and Peacebuilding, Inclusive youth volunteering, Health, Disaster Risk Reduction, Humanitarian Affairs, Sustainable Urban Development, Migration, Sustainable Energy and Education,

requests the Secretary of the IUYF to organize exchange of knowledge and expertise with UN IANYD on matters related to youth in context of the Statutes of the IUYF and in context of the WPAY.

International Rural Tourism Project “LT-RU-1-042 LiveHistory”

On the 12 of February 2020 International Rural Tourism Project “LT-RU-1-042 LiveHistory”, prepared under 2014-2020 Lithuania–Russia Cross-border Cooperation Programme, has started the implementation phase.

The project’s initiators – the Secretary of the International Union of Young Farmers Sergejus Ivanovas and the Head of the Agricultural Department of the Administration of municipality of Zelenogradsk town district authority Pavel Borovikov. Partners of the project: Kaliningrad public organization “Historical reconstruction center “Kaup” and The Curonian History Club of Lithuania are aiming to increase the number of tourists who will be attracted to the rural touristic objects installed during the project implementation. Partners shall build exhibition places “Viking village Kaup” in Russia and “Curonian village” in Lithuania, and organize cross-border cultural events and festivals. What is more, the mobile application “History Quest” will be created. The budget of the project is 335.123,34 EUR, the duration 24 months.
The Lithuania–Russia Cross-border Cooperation Programme 2014–2020 has been developed within the framework of the European Neighbourhood Instrument and is being co-financed by the European Union and the Russian Federation. The Programme will promote and broaden the cross-border cooperation between the border regions of Lithuania and Russia, which so far has been pursued under the 2004–2006 TACIS Neighbourhood Programme Lithuania–Poland–Russia and 2007–2013 European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument CBC Programme Lithuania–Poland–Russia.

Partnership between International Union of Young Farmers and the Union Corps Saint Lazarus International

On the 27 of July 2019 has been agreed a partnership between two international non-governmental organizations – the International Union of Young Farmers and the Union Corps Saint Lazarus International.

The Union Corps Saint Lazarus International since 2014 accredited in Special Consultative Status and since 2019 in General Consultative Status in with United Nations Economic and Social Council in New York, Geneva and Vienna and it is relevant for it to share its experience in the field of protection of human rights and freedoms. The Union Corps Saint Lazarus International 2017 nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.

In Europe level, the European Social Charter and its Additional Protocols protect the human social and economic rights. Issues related to the International Union of Young Farmers and the Union Corps Saint Lazarus International acquisition of the consultative status with the Council of Europe were discussed.

Chair of the International Union of Young Farmers Mrs Aleksandra Michaliova visited Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, Fisheries and Aquaculture Department in Rome 04.03.2016.

Chair of the International Union of Young Farmers Mrs Aleksandra Michaliova meets with Head of the Aquaculture branch of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, Fisheries and Aquaculture Department Prof. Dr. Malcom Beverige

Head of the FAO FAD Aquaculture branch Prof. Dr. Malcom Beverige handed over FAO documents and statistics for IUYF members with permission for publications. According to A. Michaliova this meeting, received information and stats can help to promote development of fish farming for youth (like vocational guidance) and young farmers.
