INTERNATIONAL UNION OF YOUNG FARMERS REGESTRED REPRESENTATIVE OFFICE IN LITHUANIA
The representative office of the International Union of Young Farmers (IUYF), registered on November 9, 2009, in Klaipėda, Lithuania, on the legal basis of which will continue its activity, started, in 2000, the Secretariat of the International Non-governmental Organization. Prior to the registration of its representative office in Klaipeda, the Secretariat worked on the legal basis of one of its corporate members – the Klaipeda Region Union of Young Framers. The executive of the representative office is the Secretary of the organization Sergejus Ivanovas.
LITHUANIAN AND KALININGRAD REGION YOUTH FORUM
22 representatives of the Lithuanian youth organizations participated in the Lithuanian and Kaliningrad region Youth Forum, November 06-08, 2009. The project was aiming at the communications development among youth organizations. Visiting coordinators (LiJOT and RESC) expected that the event will enable participants to not only meet each other and to make new friends, but also to help generate new international projects among youth organizations and associations of the neighbouring countries.
THE LEGAL STATUS OF FARMS SAVED IN RUSSIA FOR ANOTHER THREE YEARS
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev signed the Federal Law 176701-5 “On Amending the Article 23 Federal Law" on Peasant (farmer) facilities”, adopted by the State Duma and approved by the Federation Council. In accordance with the amendment, the re-registration period for peasant (farmer) facilities possessing a status of legal entity is extended till January 1, 2013. For the farmers’ community, which consists of 98,000 of farms in the territory of RF, it is a matter of primary importance.
THE FARMERS OF LATVIA: WE HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE, TEMPERS ARE WEARING THIN
Thousands of farmers had gathered on the roads of Latvia last week. More than 20 protest actions of Latvian farmers took place throughout the country. A long column of agricultural vehicles blocked the Riga-Ventspils highway, of the Tukuma region. Framers from Vidzeme drove the dozens of tractors to Riga stopping in Jugla. Near Liepaja, farmers burned a portrait of the Prime Minister Ivars Godmanis.
